GCSE students in Newcastle Emlyn have achieved excellent results in 2023.
The students of Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn picked up their results on Thursday, August 24 and have seen 78 per cent of their grades in the A* to C category, with almost a quarter achieving A* to A grades, which is the highest awarded.
In Carmarthenshire, 67.8% of all entries have been awarded an A*-C grade with 21.7% of entries achieving an A*-A grade.
Some of the notable individuals at Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn included Uwan Allen, Aldo Breedyk, Thomas Cartwright, Kirby Chambers, Naomi Farkash, Daniel Johnstone, Chloe Jones, Katie Ann Jones, Will McDonald, Ernest Richardson Laurens, Flo Rix, Chloe Whitton and Matthew Wilcox.
Hugh Thomas, headteacher at Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn, said: “Pupils at Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn are celebrating another excellent set of results. The school has again seen an increase in the number of pupils achieving their target grades.
“24% of the grades awarded were at A* - A. 78% of grades awarded were at A*- C. It is with great pride and joy that I congratulate all our pupils on their achievements.
"This success is a tribute to their hard work and determination. I would also like to thank the parents, governors and the community for their support and the staff at Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn for their hard work and commitment. Congratulations to all our pupils.”
